Relaunching my blog after a long hiatus; posting about software development and devops related things every week.
It’s been a long time coming, but I’m finally starting to blog again. Back in 2016 I moved across the ocean from the UK to Canada, and since then I’ve been finding my feet and getting comfortable - two cities and four jobs later I’m now in a place where I can start writing about what I’m working on, and I’ve been working on some pretty cool stuff.
Since October 2018 I’ve been working as a Senior Full Stack Developer for Enthusiast Gaming in Toronto, which is a fairly broad role and is the basis for most of what I’m going to be writing about. Without spoiling too much about future posts what we’ve been doing is working heavily with AWS and Kubernetes, while trying to maintain ourselves as being highly agile - then again, who doesn’t claim they’re agile these days - while also incorporating a lot of aspects from the devops movement, as well as respecting the value driven lessons we learned from #noprojects.
It seems fairly buzz-wordy, but what it breaks down to is: very cool software development stuff, experiments into different ways of working together as a very small team with a very broad mandate, how having no dividing line between development and operations has forced us to look at things holistically.
The latter is something that I’m a big advocate for, and something I’m hoping to write about in great detail very soon. For now though you’ll have to wait and see, but in the meantime here’s a link to my old blog if you’re curious to see where I came from.
